Nurse Appointments

The practice nursing team offer a wide range of skills and have appointments throughout the working day. Details of the services that they offer can be found HERE. The length of the appointment depends upon the procedure being carried out therefore the receptionist will ask you for the reason for the appointment. Please be assured that any information you give will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
In order to make the most of your appointment please note that:

  • You should have nothing to eat from 10pm the night before a fasting blood test.
    You can, however have a drink of water or BLACK tea or coffee without sugar.
    You can also take your medication as usual.
  • You should put oil in your ears to soften the wax for five days prior to ear syringing.
  • You should bring your inhalers to all your appointments for Asthma or COPD.
  • You must wait for six weeks after finishing a course of antibiotics or oral steroids before undergoing spirometry with reversibilty.
  • You should not use your salbutamol inhaler for at least four hours prior to spirometry with reversibility.
  • You cannot have a smear during a period.
