Blood tests usually take a minimum of 3 working days to be reported by the hospital and processed by the admin team and reviewed by the doctor or nurse.

Tests that are looking for infection need to be "grown" in the laboratory and will take at least 3 days to process there before being reported.

Some tests are sent away and can take considerably longer.

We do not routinely advise patients of their results. We encourage patients to call the admin team after at least 3 days to find out the result. Comments by the doctor or nurse will be passed on to you, and if you have further questions, a telephone appointment can be made to discuss further.

If we do need to contact you urgently about an abnormal result it is important that we have up to date contact details - let us know your mobile telephone number as well as home number. You can let us know with the Contact form.

Investigations arranged by the hospital will usually be reported back to the consultant or team that arranged them before being forwarded on to us, and can take some time to arrive.
